Heaven Knows
    (Difford/Tilbrook)

    ALBUM VERSION

Youíre no Dame, Iím no Duke
      Somehow love is a fluke
      Weíve survived thick and thin
      Taking knocks on the chin
In the eyes of the sad
      We may be barking mad
But the truth has been ceased
We are like chalk and cheese

You wind me up and I drive you mad
Itís a fact of life, it goes hand in hand
And I know that look, itís read like a book
      And I realize

I donít care what the world has to say
You should know that I love you
      I love you
      I love you today

When the boat starts to rock
Then my ears start to block
All the words that you say
Through the night, through the day
Where thereís muck there is brass
And the storm soon will pass
Then itís back to the norm
All the cold turns to warm

Sometimes I think life crawls like a snail
And all of our dreams become the wind in your sails
Without wealth itís true, who cares what you do
      And I realize

I can feel the eyes behind us as we walk
I can see the ears that listen when we talk

    SINGLE VERSION

WARNING: These lyrics are unconfirmed and may be inaccurate. They represent the best attempt at deciphering the song we have yet to see.

      You're no work of art
      But then nor am I
      Together in the frame
      We're here you and I
      In this happy home
      Life is set in stone
      That can melt like ice

I don't care what the world has to say
You should know that I love you
      I love you today

      We can't agree
      The boat starts to rock
      I complain when it rains
      And you when it's hot
      What was black is white
      What was day is night
      And what is is not

I can feel the eyes behind us as we walk
I can see the ears that listen when we talk

  • FROM THE ALBUM: Ridiculous. An "edit", with Chris' parts of the song excised and Glenn's verse vocals re-recorded with new lyrics, was released as the album's third single.
  • OTHER APPEARANCES: The single version also appears on "This Summer (remix)" CD single #1. Another different version of the song (same backing track, different lyrics and different vocals by both Chris and Glenn) is featured in the final scene of the movie Hackers but the version on the film's soundtrack album is the LP version.
